BOTOX®
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a natural, purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified form of the toxin that is removed from the germ that causes botulism is injected in such a small amount that there is no risk of disease to people receiving BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
What isn't BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is not the answer for those with unrealistic expectations. BOTOX® Cosmetic can only help to soften wrinkles and cannot totally reverse the effects of aging. BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a permanent solution but is a temporary fix to an ongoing aging process.
How does it work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that it is injected into. Cosmetically it is used to prevent movement of the facial muscles of expression. Repeated use of these muscles causes people to eventually get wrinkles in that area. By preventing that muscle from moving, the wrinkles can be prevented, softened or eliminated.
How is BOTOX® Cosmetic administered?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by tiny injections into the desired area; the procedure generally takes about 10-15 minutes. Your physician will determine how much BOTOX® Cosmetic is needed to treat you effectively.

How soon will I see results, and how long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Within days you'll see a significant improvement that may continue to improve for as long as a week. BOTOX® Cosmetic
may last four to nine months depending on how many treatments you have previously had. Everybody metabolizes it
differently. BOTOX® Cosmetic gradually wears off and the injected muscles begin to function again. If you continue with
your BOTOX® Cosmetic on a routine basis, research has shown that the injected muscles eventually weaken and time
between appointments will increase.
Is there any downtime following the procedure?
Since this is a non surgical procedure, there is no recovery time; you can get back to your regular routine schedule
immediately following the process. However, generally speaking, you need to keep your head up for four hours after a
treatment to your face.
Can I continue to get injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic for as
long as desired?
Treatments can typically be repeated as long as your condition
responds to BOTOX® Cosmetic without any serious side effects or
diminished response. Although BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used for
over ten years commercially worldwide, acceptable safety in long-
term treatments has not yet been conducted.
When shouldn't BOTOX® Cosmetic be administered?
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used during pregnancy, if you are nursing, or if you are taking certain medications. Only
your physician can determine the best course of therapy. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic may be increased with the use
of certain antibiotics or other drugs that interfere with neuromuscular transmission. Ensure that your doctor is aware of any
current medications you are taking.
Does the procedure hurt?
You may experience some minor, temporary discomfort during and immediately following the procedure. No anesthesia is
necessary.
What are the possible side effects?
All medications have some side effects, but with BOTOX® Cosmetic they are minimal and temporary. Side effects really
depend on the location of the muscle being injected. Some people notice temporary weakness of muscles, discomfort or
slight bruising at the injection site. Some people also develop flu-like symptoms, but this is relatively rare.
Is BOTOX® Cosmetic right for me?
If doing all you can to look your best is important to you, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be for you. If reducing those tough lines
between your brows would make you feel more approachable, or reducing the wrinkles around your eyes and flattening the
creases upon your forehead, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be for you.
Is it safe?
BOTOX® Cosmetic has been safely used in medical treatments for over 20 years and received FDA approval in April of 2002
to be used cosmetically for certain areas of the face. In the US alone, more than 1 million people a year receive injections of
BOTOX® Cosmetic. There has never been a reported case of disease transmission from an injection of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
The risks of complications from receiving injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic are rare and cause only temporary problems.
Does it correct all of my wrinkles?
No. BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to soften, eliminate or prevent the wrinkles that are caused from repeated muscle
contraction. It will not fill in wrinkles like collagen but will prevent the cause of the wrinkle. We use it to treat wrinkles of
the forehead, between the brows, around the eyes and mouth, to give the brows elevation and to prevent excessive
sweating under the arms, on the palms and the soles of the feet.
How long does an appointment take?
New Patients (includes time to complete paperwork and have consultation) - 30 minutes; Established Patients - 15 minutes
Can I have my consultation and appointment on the same day?
Yes, if appointments are available. You need to be off of any medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and vitamin E for a
couple of days before an injection, or you will likely bruise at the site of injection. Try to let the receptionist and/or doctor
know if you have been taking the above medications, because you may be advised to stop them for a couple of days then,
come back later for your treatment. Should bruising result, you may return the following day to be treated by Dr Lott with
the V-Beam laser AT NO COST TO YOU.
Does insurance cover any of the above services?
Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance, therefore
payment is required at the time services are rendered. However, for
Axillary Hyperhidrosis ONLY (severe underarm sweating) as a
courtesy to our clients, we will fill out a HCFA form, which will be
given to you to file with your insurance company. Your insurance
company will then make any final determinations regarding
reimbursements.

Restylane® PERLANE®
Facial lines and wrinkles are caused by a gradual breakdown of the body's collagen
and the elastin fibers in the skin. No one is immune from experiencing this
normal aging process. Squinting, frowning and smiling also inflict stress on
the underlying collagen in the skin and acceleratethe formationof these furrows.Until
recently, injectable collagen was the most widely used available cosmetic filler
to improvethe appearance of these lines.
Restylane® and Perlane® are long lasting cosmetic fillers that provide dramatic results for improving the appearance of
facial lines, wrinkles, and folds. This is a non-surgical solution to soften facial lines and wrinkles, restore volume and
fullness to the skin, plump up lips, and fill in scars. Restylane® injected
into the lips can give back fullness to lips that have receded. The cosmetic
results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated
look.
The difference between Restylane® and Perlane® is in the gel particle size. Perlane® gel particles are larger and designed
for deeper injection than Restylane®. Dr Lott will decide which product
is right for you.
What is the treatment like?
Restylane® or Perlane® is injected in small amounts under your skin to fill creases, lines, wrinkles, or folds. It is also
injected around the lip area to create volume, resulting in a more youthful appearance. A skin test is not necessary prior to
treatment, so treatment can be performed at any time. In order to optimize your comfort, the treatment area may be
anesthetized with a topical cream or anesthetic block. Treatment results are immediately evident.
How long do the results last?
Depending on many factors, such as your lifestyle, age, and skin structure, your results may last as long as six months to a
year or more. You may require a touch-up treatment as early as four weeks after the first treatment to achieve your desired
result. Treatment to enhance the lips is reported to last much longer than treatment using standard collagen filler. When
the effect of the treatment begins to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed.
What are the benefits of Restylane® and Perlane®?
- Immediately you will discern a smoothing of the wrinkles and folds.
- Restylane® and Perlane® will impart lift and new firmness to your skin.
- With lip enhancement, the results will be noticeably fuller and more contoured lips.
- It is not necessary for you to be tested for skin sensitivity.
- The cosmetic results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.
- When the effect of the treatment begins to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed.
Restylane®/Perlane® vs. Collagen
These fillers have been demonstrated to last much longer than the standard bovine collagen injection. The occurrence of an
allergic reaction is extremely rare due to the product's non-animal associated basis. Unlike injectable collagen filler that is
made of bovine protein and can cause an allergic reaction in some patients, Restylane® and Perlane® are natural
substances, hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar molecule already present naturally in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in
Restylane® and Perlane® is similar to that found throughout your body, which gives volume and fullness to the skin. It is
both biodegradable and compatible with human hyaluronic acid. Because of this compatibility it is not necessary for you to
be tested for skin sensitivity.
What can I expect following treatment?
You can resume normal activities following treatment. The most commonly reported side effect has been redness and
swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within a few hours or, at most, a day or two. Results are
immediately evident. Lines, wrinkles and folds look softer and your skin looks smooth.
Radiesse™
How long will the Radiesse™ last?
Most patients treated with Radiesse™ should look for a correction which last one to two years although some patient's
treatment will last three years or longer.
What areas of the face are normally treated with Radiesse™?
Typical Radiesse™ treatments include: smoothing and contouring smile lines or nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of
the mouth, vertical lip lines, acne scars, facial defects or recessions, frown lines, restoring volume in and around the
cheeks, providing lip definition and modest enhancement or correcting asymmetrical features.
Will the Radiesse™ become hard, calcified or noticeable to touch?
To the contrary... Radiesse™ will remain soft and take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue. New soft tissue will
gradually replace the Radiesse™ over time with most replacement occurring within three months. Patients report Radiesse™
remaining soft and passing the "kiss test".
Does the treatment hurt?
A mild localized anesthetic is normally used to minimize or usually eliminate the pain associated with this type of treatment.
The numbing effects will wear off in 15 minutes to as long as a couple of hours depending on the anesthetic used by your
physician. There is no pain reported afterwards.
Are there any lingering effects of the treatment and when can I return to my normal activities?
There is minor inflammation or swelling from the treatment as a result of the expansion of facial tissue. This is normally
resolved well within 24 hours but has been reported to last as long as 48 hours for some patients. Most patients resume
normal activities only a few hours after receiving treatment. Application of ice intermittently for a short period after the
treatment will help reduce any swelling.
Is there any activity restriction after I receive the treatment?
You should avoid activities that will strain your facial features for 48 hours following treatment as much as possible. For
example, avoid activities such as strenuous laughing, using a straw, singing, shouting, cheering, chewing gum, eating beef
jerky, etc. Otherwise normal activities are fine.
What is Radiesse™ made of?
Radiesse™ consists of tiny microspheres of a synthetic material called calcium hydroxylapatite (30%) that is combined with
a common hydrogel (70%) used in a vast array of products. The result is a white, creamy substance. While calcium
hydroxylapatite has similar chemical and structural characteristics as bone and teeth and therefore is naturally compatible
with the body, the Radiesse™ material is synthetic and man-made similar to a calcium phosphate.
Will I need a skin test to determine if I will have a reaction to
the Radiesse™?
No. Due to the safe and compatible materials used in Radiesse™ no
pre-testing of any kind is required. There have been no reported
reactions from use of the Radiesse™ product.
How safe is Radiesse™ and are there any complications to the
treatment?
Radiesse™ has been safely injected in over 30,000+ patients worldwide without a report of reaction to the product. There
have been minor complications reported by some patients receiving large volume lip augmentation where some lumpiness
or small nodules have occurred within several days of treatment. Complications of this nature have been normally resolved
clinically within 30-60 days with patients reporting satisfaction. Smaller volume lip augmentation is recommended.
Juvèderm™
Juvèderm™ is the latest dermal filler advance from Allergan Inc. Juvèderm™ is a "next generation" smooth gel, non-animal
dermal filler offering a natural look or feel and long-lasting results for up to six months or longer. Juvèderm™ dermal filler
lasts long because it's the only dermal filler currently available with the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid and a
special formulation process. This process creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, creating smooth, natural
looks.
